Dear Harvest Hills Families,

We want to reach out to families to let you know we have been experimenting with different ways to operationalize the Kiss and Ride which has been previously closed at the end of the day for the past two weeks. We continue to work with the Town of Bradford and the SCDSB to improve our lot and the efficiency of the Kiss and Ride. Nonetheless, we have considered different options, and we will continue to modify it as we go. We appreciate your patience with this.

If you do use our ‘Kiss & Ride’ lane we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines so we can keep it running efficiently:

  • Pull ahead as far as you can in the kiss and ride lane and put your car in park
  • Students must exit/enter the vehicle on the side closest to the sidewalk (right side)
  • Students should exit the vehicle independently (drivers should remain in the vehicle). School staff will support the drop-off and pick-up from the sidewalk to ensure that all drivers stay in their vehicles
  • Once students are safely on the sidewalk, drivers leave the parking lot to ensure a steady flow of traffic.
  • End of day pick-up: If you need to walk your child to or pick up from the gate (JK-Gr. 3 students),  you must park in the parking lot spaces or in designated areas on the street.  Some parking spaces are reserved for family parking but do fill up quickly. Please consider parking in designated areas on the street nearby the school and walk in to meet your children.
  • If you are in the kiss and ride line and do not see your child, you are to exit the kiss and ride, loop around the block, and come back in. This will help to keep the line moving.
  • Drivers must not exit or park their vehicle when using the convenience of the Kiss & Ride lane.
  • Please do not park in areas of the parking lot that are not designated parking areas
  • For the safety of our staff, students and families, please refrain from backing up while in the kiss and ride lane.
  • Please be mindful, have patience, and drive slowly through the parking lot. We will try our best to expedite the drop-off and pick-up of children in the vehicles ahead to ensure a flow of traffic.

The goal is to keep the line moving safely and efficiently. Your child’s safety is our greatest priority.

Thank you from the staff and parents of Harvest Hills P.S.
